Samsung Electronics unveiled two new wearable products, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, which boast enhanced battery and health management functions, as well as two new models of intelligent eyewear with a new design.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 features a 35% larger 800mAh battery compared to its predecessor, with a reduced thickness of 10.7mm. It also comes with a display with a maximum brightness of 5000 nits, a titanium frame, and a waterproof and dustproof rating of 10ATM·IP69K. It has also received EN13319 certification, an international diving equipment safety standard.
The new trail running feature tracks altitude, climbing progress, and ground conditions. The hydration guide analyzes sweat loss to recommend the appropriate timing for hydration. The diving function records depth, time, and water temperature, and a dedicated app developed in partnership with Mares allows users to check ascent and descent speeds and safe decompression times. The battery capacity for the 40mm model has increased by 20% to 390mAh compared to the previous model, with a maximum brightness of 3000 nits.
The health management features have been enhanced to capture changes compared to a person's usual state and suggest management directions. The "biological signs" function detects changes in heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen saturation during sleep.
The "cardiovascular health score" provides management advice based on sleep and activity levels, body composition, and vascular stress. The "daily aerobic load" analyzes the strain on the heart from exercise and daily activities to guide whether to exercise or rest. The "physical fitness index" evaluates exercise performance based on body composition and cardiorespiratory endurance. The sleep apnea detection feature has been updated to include AI-based analysis of the level of respiratory disorders.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is available in a single 47mm size, with the LTE model priced at 969,100 won. The Galaxy Watch9 comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes, with the LTE model for the 44mm model priced at 569,800 won and the Bluetooth model at 539,000 won. The 40mm model is priced at 529,100 won for LTE and 499,000 won for Bluetooth.
Samsung Electronics has expanded its product lineup to four models by partnering with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to add a new smart glasses design.
The new models also operate based on Android XR and Jemina, supporting real-time translation, navigation, message checking, and photo and video recording using cameras, sensors, microphones, and speakers. It also offers a function to summarize whiteboard and document content during meetings or lectures.
Choi Won-jun, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics' MX Business Division, stated, "Intelligent eyewear provides a new point of contact that naturally recognizes context in everyday life and offers a more personalized AI experience."
