Luxury automaker Genesis unveiled its first luxury flagship electric sports utility vehicles (SUVs), the 'GV90' and 'GV90 Neuron', opening a new horizon for luxury electrification.

Genesis held the 'GV90 World Premiere' at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on the 19th (local time), showcasing the new vehicles. Based on the concept model 'Neuron' unveiled in 2024, the GV90 symbolizes Genesis' accumulated luxury philosophy and advanced electrification capabilities since its inception.

Established as an independent luxury brand by Hyundai Motor in 2015, Genesis, under the leadership of Chairman Euisun Chung, has been aggressively targeting the global luxury car market. After surpassing annual sales of 100,000 units in 2020 and 200,000 units in 2021, Genesis has firmly established itself as a luxury brand competing with global leaders such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Lexus.

Genesis has completed a full lineup of electrification across all segments, from its first dedicated electric vehicle GV60 to electrified models like the G80, GV70, and now the flagship GV90. The GV90, the first production model from the electric vehicle-dedicated plant in Ulsan, where Hyundai Motor invested around 2 trillion won, is considered a key indicator of the group's electrification strategy and future competitiveness.

The new vehicle, based on the Genesis flagship-exclusive 'eMP (Electric Mobility Prime) platform', provides a spacious interior with a length of 5285mm and a wheelbase of 3245mm. Equipped with a large-capacity 123.5kWh NCA high-voltage battery, the GV90 can travel 500km on a single charge (based on laboratory measurements) and can charge from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes with a 350kW rapid charger.

With a combined maximum output of 490kW and maximum torque of 800Nm, the GV90 features dual e-LSD, multi-chamber air suspension, and active rear-wheel steering (RWS) to deliver a flagship-worthy elegant riding experience.

The vehicle also showcases exterior and safety innovations. It features the world's first independent coach doors called 'Neuron Arch Gates', eliminating the B-pillar to maximize openness while ensuring collision safety with a high-strength dual steel beam and hidden roll cage structure. Additionally, the GV90 is equipped with 12 airbags, including the world's first 'Roof Airbag' covering the roof glass in the event of a rollover, and Thermal Runaway Protection (TRP) technology.

Furthermore, the GV90 incorporates advanced connected car technologies such as a new power system without a start button, a pop-up center OLED cinematic display expanded to a maximum of 24.6 inches, and the SDV infotainment 'Fleos Connect' with AI agent 'Gleo AI'.

Chairman Euisun Chung stated, "The GV90 embodies the direction of future luxury envisioned by Genesis, incorporating innovations in technology, design, and overall customer experience." He added, "As the value of innovation lies in enhancing human experience, we will continue to provide differentiated value and a dignified experience."
